Self-Assessment Tax Returns
Whether you are an individual, a trustee or an executor, or if you have a partnership or LLP, it is likely that you will need to file a UK tax return at some point. We are committed in helping you all the way, from knowing when to file to understanding information you need to report and the records you need to keep. Our service includes calculating your tax position for the year and any payments on account you need to make for the following year, as well as advising on the scope to reduce your tax payments, or mitigate future liabilities using various available reliefs such as pension contributions, EIS investments and gift aid.
If you have inadvertently made errors in earlier years that could have led to an under- or over-payment of tax, we can highlight these and help you correct them too.
Capital Gains Tax
If you sell a property in the UK you may be required to file a Capital Gains Tax return within 60 days of completion, even if you already file Self Assessment Tax returns, and even if you are not resident in the UK. We can deal with the return for you, help calculate the tax that may be due and identify ways to mitigate your liability.
Inheritance Tax Returns
If you are a trustee you may on occasions be required to file Inheritance Tax returns. This could be at the time monies are gifted into a trust (so-called chargeable lifetime transfers), on a 10 year anniversary, or when capital is appointed out of a trust. As a trustee you are legally required to comply with your obligations and our team can help point you in the right direction, enabling you to understand and comply with your obligations.
Non-resident landlord
If you are not resident in the UK and you let a UK property, you are classified as a non-resident landlord. There are obligations to register and file an annual return as part of HMRC’s Non-resident Landlord Scheme. We can advise you on these and complete the necessary forms to ensure you are compliant.
