Our Not for Profit team understands that the core purpose of these organisations is to address needs in society, not to reap the benefits of profit. As a team of people passionate about the sector, we value and respect this mission. Many of the team have worked in the not for profit sector before returning to practice, and everyone shares a passion for delivering strong social outcomes and also financial sustainability – we describe ourselves as sector people who happen to be in practice, rather than the other way round.
Our specialist team has many years’ experience working with and advising UK charities, membership organisations, social enterprises and large institutional donors based both in the UK and overseas. This means we understand what you are trying to achieve, how you are trying to achieve it, and the issues you face. Our energy and enthusiasm, coupled with deep sector experience, means we will commit to helping you achieve your goals with practical, tailored and well-rounded advice.
We invest time in getting to know our clients and our full-service approach – meaning our internal experts in areas such as audit, taxation and IT are fully immersed in the not for profit sector – shows that we will be proactive in highlighting any potential issues. You will have access to an experienced and dedicated team who value your purpose and will help you with all financial and taxation matters to enable you to devote more time and focus on your aims.
Our sectors
Charities
We provide a range of assurance services including statutory audit, systems reviews and funder audits; compliance and advice on VAT and corporation tax; and advice on how best to structure your charity, harness technology and manage risks like fraud. We work with high-profile organisations and understand the importance of a robust external audit underpinning timely and accurate financial reporting.
Our accessible senior team provides year-round support and advice to ensure our clients are up to date on those issues that matter most to you. Our clients find great value in the time we spend with them – understanding their strategic goals and their plans to achieve them. We understand the importance of working with people, not simply numbers – and our team are trustees too, meaning we have the perspective from both sides.
Donor agencies
PKF’s dedicated Institutional Donor team has extensive experience of undertaking audit and assurance reviews on behalf of major international donors – including the European Commission, DfID, Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Membership bodies
Our history of working with membership organisations can be traced back to the early twentieth century. Our clients, both charitable and non-charitable, operate across several sectors including government representative, professional and industry bodies. Every membership body is distinctive and faces different challenges. We will tailor our services to suit your needs and achieve your goals.
