As you may have already seen, there have been some high profile names on HMRC’s latest published list of companies who have not met the National Minimum Wage requirements.
Whilst the majority of the named companies have made good the underpayments to their staff, they have still had to go through an HMRC Enquiry, budget for unexpected payments, and see the company name listed in the public domain as not paying their employees minimum wage, which all amounts to negative publicity.
There are many nuances to the rules and they are not always easy to understand. At PKF, we can provide a ‘health check’ on your company’s current practices to help ensure that your company is getting it right. If HMRC do enquire into how your employees are being paid, you will have minimised the risk of action being taken due to non-compliance.
